Custom Xcalibur Pin Rod $450.00
Custom Xcalibur Pin Rod
A specially designed "pin" rod for the Pere Marquette River.

10' 4pc rated for up to 4x tippet. It is built with weight-saving high
frame TiCh Flexilite guides (similar to RECs, size 8's to the tip for less icing-up).

With these guides, this rod can double as a 10' 6wt fly rod, and even a spinning rod. The proprietory blank is a fast action progressive taper.

Comes with a custom made rod sock and a black cordura tube.

This is a custom built rod, the above rod configuration may be changed according to your needs!

Warranty is same as the majors, but better with the addition of an honor system, i.e. a defective break is our fault and we will replace the broken section; an honest break will be repaired for $50 a section which includes free return shipping.

I guide Michigan, Alaska and the Florida Keys and fished many different rods from all the major manufacturers. I fished my first 10 ft 7wt Xcalibur for Steelhead about four years ago. It has been my go to rod for indicator fishing ever since. I’ve used it on almost every steelhead river in the Lower Peninsula as well as salmon and trout fishing in AK. I also own a 10wt Xcalibur and it’s my number one stick for Tarpon fishing in the FL Keys. I have fished a number of nice center pin rods over the past few years and added an Xcalibur to my collection last spring. I can’t say enough good things about it. It has all the top quality components that you could ask for in a high performance rod. Not to mention the removable butt that converts the pin rod over to a two handed fly rod. My experience with Xcalibur rods has been exceptional, as well as the service provided from the Xcalibur team. Many custom rod builders as well as some of the main stream manufacturers take weeks or even months to answer questions or replace broken rods. The Xcalibur team has always answered any questions I had immediately and been just as good with rod repairs and replacements. I would recommend the rods to anyone considering buying a top of the line custom rod. Gabe Nyblad

Just wanted to let you know I took out your rod and fished on Friday and Saturday after Christmas and was impressed with it -- the rod fishes very nicely, balanced great with the 4" Hardy Conquest reel I was using, and was very light in the hand and responsive. I particularly liked how the rod had plenty of power for long hooksets yet protected 5x and 6x tippet pretty well -- in fact I can't remember a single break off on the hookset or while fighting a fish.......I can't say the same with the other tackle I've used. Likewise I don't think I missed many fish on the hooksets.......the fish were pretty responsive and I had two pretty good days. The size of the fish this weekend were pretty good.......most averaged from 10-14" but I caught 3 around 18" and a nice dark rainbow of about 20". We've had some really warm weather over the last several days which has brought 30-40 mph winds. My friend who was fly fishing was struggling with the wind dancing his indicator and fly line all over but the thin mono and weighted float tracked much better in the wind and made a huge difference this weekend.
